Because I was late in accepting the award from Kak Dee, I cant find any more Bloggers to extend this award to. The recipients have grabbed almost everybody I know already .......

But here are the seven things about me:-

1. I dont like reading manuals , never really have patience for it. Only when things go wrong with the device would I then reach for the manual.

2. I am a very optimistic person. I have a reputation among friends that I boost their confidence much more than theyre capable of. I never meant to jack them up, but I truly believe that theres nothing in this world you can't achieve or do if you ve set your mind to it.

3. I am also very impulsive, there are a few instances where I would just jump into a river or stream or even a pond just because I can't resist the temptation to swim. Yes, I had jumped with my full clothes on.

4. "Jill of Many Trades; Master of None" describes me perfectly, because I have difficulty focusing on the current interest for too long and I will soon move on to other activities, but most of my pursuits will come and go round and round in a circle

5. My mind has its own wings and works wonders that I cant control it most of the times. It is easily distracted too. I may seem to be listening to you talking about your latest patchwork when my mind is actually floating somewhere in Mercury land. Please help bring me back to earth occasionally when talking to me.

6. When I was small I "swam" with my hands and feet flapping on my grandmother's carpet, imagining it to be the sea or the river. And dont ask me why I decided to put my cute underwear on my head as “goggles” during the "swim".

7. I can listen to people and help them solve their problems or 'emotional issues'. I put different perspective to their problems and make them see things differently from other angles.

Now you know why I always have trouble in my sewing ......

its also convenient to have the block to take notes instead of jotting them in pieces of paper

Rahmatilah Tok, Ya Allah

Walaupun di saat-saat akhir di atas katil, Tok tidak lagi boleh bergerak bebas, aku pastikan baju, kain batik, sarung bantal sarung tilam semuanya yang kemas dan cantik. Tok sukakan yang cantik. Hatta ketika mandikan jenazah, tuala yang digunakan putih bersih , kain batik panjang juga adalah buatan jawa yang lama Tok simpan. Telekung terakhir yang dipakaikan ke tubuh Tok adalah telekung mahal dan cantik milik mak. Aku mengendalikan jenazah Tok dari awal hingga akhir walaupun gagal berada di samping Tok ketika dia meghembuskan nafas akhirnya. Apabila sampai sebaik sahaja mendapat berita, berulang kali aku beritahu Tok:-

“Ann dah sampai Tok”.

“Maafkan Ann Tok, Ann terlambat ...”.

Sakitnya terasa kehilangan seorang yang menjadikan aku adalah aku hari ini. Yang paling memanjakan aku lebih dari yang aku perlukan. Kasih melimpah yang tak bertepi. Memimpin tangan aku sedari kecil untuk mengenalkan aku dengan “khaliq” dan menjadikan bacaan Quran aku lancar dan khatam awal. Mengajar aku segala jenis doa. Yang membela aku ketika aku terasing, mendakap aku rapat ketika aku berduka. Kasih sayangnya akan sentiasa mengalir dalam diri ini, selalu.

Sejuk terasa dahi Tok tiap kali aku mengucupnya dari awal aku sampai di tepi jasadnya yang kaku hinggalah kucupan terakhir aku berbisik pada Tok

“Kita jumpa lagi di sana nanti Tok”

namun hidup harus diteruskan

ketidakmampuan bukan halangan

bukan alasan

untuk tidak mahu berterusan dengan jahitan

applique macam penjahit normal yang kemas dan cantik pun tak pandai

ditambah dengan kesabaran yang sangat tipis

One Of My Weaknesses In Life

.... is quilt binding

Ever since I started learning to quilt, it has been one thing that I always drag to do.

If some of you may recollect, I even had the heart to make those big quilts while forgetting how lousy I am at binding. I tell you those quilts are still lying somewhere in my house .. unfinished !

so tonight I was determined to face my weakness by making a small quilt

But the thing is I have another weakness too which is bad when one wants to quit:-

lack of patience

I m still struggling in that department

tak adanya orang dalam dunia ni bind mcm ni

kalau benang pun berserabut .. apa lagi jiwa I kan ....

I was so engrossed that I became lost in my own world and in time. Its almost 1.30 am and I still couldnt finish it. I finally gave up for the night and decided I should try again tomorrow and really study and get some guidance and help from the net.

so sesapa yang ada niat nak upah I menjahit atau buat apa2 untuknya

fikirlah beribu-ribu ~~lemon~~ kali

I ll keep you updated insyaAllah on this small project

I know if I can ever do this, insyaAllah, I am sure I can do more !!!

Favourite Cushion Covers

Its been some times since I last made a "proper" cushion cover. The strawberry fabric was purchased last two years, I never knew what to do with it until today when I decided to make cushion cover out of it. The other small flower print was bought just recently.

For the first time I felt so satisfied with the outcome of these.

Its not quilted, simple design and they turned out just lovely in my eyes

Maybe because I used the same fabric for the backing

:-)

and perhaps the fabrics themselves are just so sweet

that they speak for themselves

Orang Yang Demam Perlukan Kasih Sayang Dan Majalah Yang Cantik Walaupun Tak Faham Majalah Itu Yang Berbahasa Thai

Saya jumpa edisi pertama majalah ini pada tahun lepas sewaktu berkunjung ke Thailand. Cakap macam melancong gitu padahal naik kereta tak sampai 30 minit dah ada kat pekan Siam tu, Danok. Benarlah cinta itu buta. Biarlah tak faham sepatah habuk pun tak mengapa asal sedap mata memandang melihat gambar2 di dalamnya. Maka sejak dari itu, bila ke Danok saja mesti cari majalah ini.

Saya suka majalah ini kerana ia memaparkan cara hias rumah yang simple mudah dan cantik. Bila kita lihat gambar-gambar di dalamnya kita seperti terasa:-

"ehh aku mampu buat mcm ni"

"Ehhh boleh ja aku amik lemari Tok cat kasi cantik dan letak kat bilik"

"Simplenyaaaa ...."

hiasan yang cantik menggunakan gabungan modern dan asli

kalau tak silap ini hiasan untuk kedai makan

i just love the bamboo fence !

Kebanyakan gambar yang diambil adalah dari rumah orang biasa yang berseni

yang bestnya rumah kampung pun dihias cantik rasa mcm sukaaanyaaaa

kalau rumah modern pun masih tetap sedap mata melihat dekorasinya

ni rumah crafter nih

tengok sempoi jaaa kan tapi cantik sangat

almari kain pun mesti rembat nenek kat kampung dia punya kan

ada juga resepi di dalam majalah ni

kadang rasa mcm nak ikut

tapi tak pasti daging apa dia pakai

(piiirahhh nak ikut resepi konon, macam paham kannn )

hahaha

kadang ada juga dia ajar cara2 nak cat atau bertukang

tengok rumah kampung ni

rasa mcm nak balik kampung suruh nenek cat rumah dia mcm ni kan...

Bukan selalu saya ke sempadan, rindu selalu mebuak2 pada majalah ini. Minggu lepas jumpa kat online dan saya pun tanpa berlengah masa terus ja order, ada yang dah out of stock. Hari Selasa baru ni terus dapat, sampai saya terlompat-lompat ....

Bukan tak suka majalah hiasan rumah kat Malaysia, tapi kadang rasa bila buka baca, eshhh mcm hiasan perabut tu semua untuk orang2 kaya berduit saja .... tak adanya nak jumpa gambar bilik tidur sempoi mcm kat bawah ni kat dalam majalah dekorasi Malaysia...

What I ve Been Up To

After more than a week of my photo with Popo in my last entry I better put up something new. Raya was fine Alhamdulillah. My grandmother , my dear Tok, has not been well for the past few months now and we've been taking turns to look after her

If you must know I have moved into my present house for more than 5 years already, and I have never bothered to add anything to the bare porch. My father just complained to me recently that he had no place to sit outside my house to read the newspaper. So ....... when I saw the swing in Changloon the other day with my sister, she insisted (yes she did) me to buy it. Its not like one of those elegant expensive looking swings in "Laman". I bought this for only RM450 and I have to say it myself, I just love it. Its so me ! So, to celebrate the new swing, I burned the midnight oil making the bunting ! hahaha ... "ghayan" kata orang Kedah !

And here are a few other things I made .... which include some I ve shown before in this blog

Coasters from the linen purchased eons ago

painted the stones too and turned them ugly

saw those polka dots fabrics at Nagoya and made a simple mat

blue and green on each side

my sister saw the fabric at Nilai, mms me

and I asked her to get me a few meters

the new table cloth brings cheerful mood to my kitchen

I hope your Raya has been wonderful too

Rumah Saya

Rumah saya ada dua buah. Satu kecil dan satu besar. Saya suka rumah rumah saya sebab mereka comel dan kurus macam saya. Rumah saya ada pokok bunga dan juga burung. Saya tidak tahu kenapa burung itu lebih besar dari rumah saya. Pokok bunga juga agak besar dengan rumah. Tapi tak mengapa ini rumah saya jadi saya tak kisah dengan cakap-cakap orang. Orang mungkin akan kata rumah saya pelik, atau kecil dan tidak sesuai dengan saya. Rumah saya adalah dunia saya, kita tak perlu rumah besar untuk merasa bahagia ... kebahagiaan terletak di hati, bukan pada berapa ribu harga sofa, oh ya sofa saya juga sudah tak bertukar sarung beberapa tahun sudah ...

Saya tahu saya cakap merapu, mungkin sebab saya tidak sihat ... dan demam. Cuaca sangat panas sekarang. Maafkan saya.

Semoga kamu semua sudah bersedia dan bergembira mahu menyambur Ramadan Karim.

I Can Be Bold But Not Go Bald

I notice the reason why most of the cushion covers I made do not and did not (past tense for those I gave away) stand out is because my sofa is almost white with small red and blue flowers print. You see, most covers that I had made previously were light in colors too so they didnt really shout !

So today I decide going bold with colors ... huh .. I m quite happy with the result and will probably make more insyaAllah ...

I am so sorry for not returning the visit to your blogs ... not feeling well these few days .... Promise I will visit all of you soon insyaAllah ...

Gambar saja la yang banyak dibawa balik. Minta maaf sebab tak banyak souvenier yang dibeli, sebab pergi dengan menggalas beg di belakang ... memang agak tersiksa bila barang banyak.

Bila tengok benda2 craft, memang teringat kat kawan-kawan crafters saya kat sini.

Ayu pun asyik tanya kedai quilt atau kedai kain kat sana. Terus terang saya katakan ... Italians are not quilters ... mak aiii kalau depa dengar sure kena serang blog ni. Betoiii .. ada tu ada .. tapi jenuh cari dan saya memang tak jumpa . Kedai kain banyak tapi kain yang mcm Bern@ard Ch@ndran guna buat baju pengantin, bukan kain cotton yang lawa2 macam kita tengok kat blog atau website kawan2 kita kat sini.

Tapi saya ada jumpa kedai macam ni banyak kat sana, kat Rome ada . Florence ada, Milan ada .. rasanya macam projek kedai franchise gitu.

Winter was tough. Popo slept with me under the blanket.

How we prepared for Spring :-

sketching and cutting

I got the idea from a MODA fabric I saw in a magazine

gather everything
to see how it should look like

and because I never have an actual design from any source

I would have to take photos first

so that I could refer when I start to stitch

I have to admit that I m a messy person

(ask Kak Dee)

You should see me when doing a project

right after cutting a fabric I would just throw it away on the side

this is my side table where
the bigger fabrics are thrown

the reason being I would be so intense with whats on my head
about the design and all
feeling like if i hesitate the inspiration would go away

I Bought A Badminton Racket and A(nother) Jelly Roll

Remember the last time I bought my first jelly roll ? Well since I ve almost finished using them all, I thought I needed some more.

I find that using jelly roll is so convenient and meet my purpose as they come in so many patterns with variety of colors, and duly cut into the right size which make it easy for me to think of things to do with them. Well.... errr so far I mainly use them for my cushion covers.

Heres the last few portions of the previous jelly roll which I made a cushion cover (again). Hmmm I guess I ve been cursed to stuck with doing the covers since my first "niat" of jumping into this sewing world was to .... make errrr ... cushion covers ! (Blame L*ura Ashl*y ) . Itulah pentingnya niat bila nak mulakan sesuatu perkara ... *sigh*.

I quilted ! and I finished it .... hahaha

its an accomplshment you know
if you know how I tried quilting those big stuff but never finished them

I should use another color for the "h" in "home"

Everything I m into, it will always be with passion and determination at the expense of everything else (So you'll l understand why I had maggie mee for lunch yesterday because I was eager to finish the above). And when I stopped, I will abandon it completely (so you'll understand too why I forgot where the switch for my Bee).

I think I have issues.

And oh , the day before yesterday was spent finishing the pouches; I kept making them because I just wanted to sew it perfectly ... and I still failed. Oh never mind, tomorrow's another day. I ll make more so that I can be like you ladies who sew so neat ! I m way out of your league laaa. Adehhhh ...

I'm Back

Ok. The first time I laid my hands on the machine, I totally forgot where the on/off switch was.

Had to make an effort to remember how to operate my Bee (ewwww Bee for bernina), but it only took a few minutes before it all came back to me ... like they said about riding a bicycle; no matter how long you have not rode the bike, once ure on it, it ll just come easily. B

But this time I wanted my experience with the sewing and the machine to be more relaxed .. calmed and cool .. to just take my time and not be so "kalut" or "gopoh".... hmmmm I guess its a hard habit to break. For instance I would now want to sew something small and simple and not like all those previous big quilts and table cloth which I have yet to finish !!! Yes I have not finished them. I might want to make a proposal, since I have made two table cloths, I should offer one of them to anyone who could finish one for me and take the other one for her ...or him ... We' ll see about that. And for last nite I made this one ... which should be of use for my lense ...

Well ladies .. just give me some times to come and visit your blogs again .. like those days... when I was younger (hehe.. mcm lah hilang bertahun)

Salam All.

Finally, the day has come for me to announce the winners of my first ever Giveaway. Even though it didnt happen the way I thought it would be .. (with hundreds of entries ...( hahahaha ada hati mimpi email sampai ke seratus) ) it drove me crazy too ..... with emails reaching not even 10 ... it was quite disheartening .. but then serve me right .. gatal buat soalan susah ! Finally Alhamdulillah I managed to finish the runner. I was actually stuck with the bias binding as I was a bit hesitant and overly careful on how to cut the fabric and bind it properly.

Since Ayu was around, she helped me with the cutting and I finished the whole thing albeit my uneven stitch trademark which you could see if you turn it around.

In that case, my solution is
to make sure its glued to the table
so nobody should know or see its back

ha ha ha ha ha ha

I cut them into squares and decided my coffee table outside needs a new runner.

A bit (ahaa) crowded the design said my Sifu, Ayu ... I have to agree with her but of course I m too old to have the energy to get hold of the seam ripper.. so I just go with the flow

A bit smaller than the dinasour ... hopefully its much easier to tame !!

Ayu even said its a piece of an art

I take it as a compliment.

Hi ! Let me introduce myself again.

(Just in case most of you have forgotten me after a long hiatus)

I just bought myself a jelly roll which when i first heard of it thought it was some sort of candy. So please excuse my taking all these pictures. Ya saya agak "peghak"

... never ~~seen~~ touched one before and its such a delight to finally get one. (Ya life is short, I m happy with whatever that brings me joy even if its only from this simple sweet roll)

I hope I can start with something else with the new jelly (hahaha) ..... rather than wait for this dinosaur quilt to finish. I seriously dont know when it is going to end ..... Letih buat ... jangan kata thread holder patah ... tulang belakang pun boleh tau.

A new quilter with big ambition

but a weak back

crawling on this piece tacking is no joke

and not a small hassle

never never again underestimate those quilters lady

only a small portion and I m already thinking of giving up with this quilt design

How not to give up .... ????

and with muscles like mine its no surprise I m allowed to break a few things

I broke the thread holder

glued it tight

dry it with a hair dryer

broke it again

bad injury

and as of now seam ripper is my close fren

ripping away the quilt design

I think I better learn how to manoeuvre big piece with the machine first

before I can venture further

now you know why you need a strong hand

but bigger patience

and stronger determination

Quilting The Easy Stitch

I was not actually sure how to do it ... should I applique it first or should I just stitch them right away on the batting and all ... For the design thus I only made a house and a flower ... I cut them and quilted right away using free hand motion .. i did the same with the wording ..

but I do notice that the alphabet stitching had caused the fabric to shrink a bit making an uneven dimension to the quilt.

I should consult with the expert (read: Kak Dee Kak Dida and Ayu) later when all is done and see what went wrong and what I should have done

I have not been very productive lately. Yes .. I ve been quite busy and I have to admit I m quite stressed out. No, its not because of the fact that most of my clothes have turned against me and shrunk themselves or that Ayu is pestering me to brisk walk and run with her tomorrow ... no, no, no ...

I was hoping by finishing this one piece of simple cushion cover that I had started weeks ago would make me feel better ...

but instead I found myself quite in a foul mood while making it and made quite a number of mistakes ... the design the sewing the size ..... sentap sambil menjahit ... buruk kan ..?

bukan hanya pada boss yang bila kadang-kadang lambat masuk ofis

bukan juga pada Ayu yang katanya beliau adalah "epal" bukan "pisang"

atau pada ahli rombongan yang mahu ke Hatyai tapi tak berani sebab semuanya takut dengan geng ~~bas merah~~ baju merah

juga bukan pada mesin jahit yang terpaksa diabaikan seketika

tapi yang sebenarnya adalah rasa bersalah pada tubuh badan sendiri yang tidak lagi boleh memakai saiz 12 ..... (tak payahlah tahu saiz apa yg muat sekarang)

rasa bersalah ini hendak saya salahkan pada mesin jahit dan hobi menjahit ...

kalau sesiapa nak diet tolong jangan jatuh cinta menggila pada hobi seperti menjahit .. sebab ia memang tak akan membantu kamu kurus

ia buatkan kamu alpa dan terus gagal pergi ke gym, kolam renang mahupun stadium balapan atau velodrome untuk berlari atau kayuh basikal (makk aii lari dan naik basikal kat stadium you ... hahahahahaha .... nampak sangat tipu)

When Sue of MyBotang started announcing about her SALE, I was already excited hahaha .. yala fabrics from Japan, must be good (rubbing my two hands)

Her style of doing the sale was group by group .. and they are very limited

and so like a small cake to be shared by many ... only those who are fast and lucky manage to grab a piece (at least) .... So everytime I went online I made sure I checked Sues blog for any new items on Sale .. and Alhamdulillah I managed to grab a few ..

The way I did it was like once I looked at the entry I would automatically scroll down and looked at the comments to see if there had been some, and if there were more comments than the items featured .. i m doomed .. mati la semua orang dah sambar ... huh

So this morning when I visited the blog I was so excited to see such beautiful fabrics !! Terketaq-ketag ni scroll tengok komen .. alamak ada tiga dah komen ... I read the comments .. ehh si Malaysia siap cakap "I love you" .. apa hal sayang menyayang ???? Tak book pun.... baca second comment .. ehh apa nih ...

hmmm .. kalau ada rombongan Craftzone nak pi Hatyai pun boleh jadi nihh .. hahaha. Bagi tau saja kita buat rombongan mcm "Rombongan Che Kiah" tu ... pegang tangan ramai-ramai. Cuma kalau ada yang teringin nak pi tengok Tiger Show kena naik bas lain la .....

And please janganla harap Hatyaai tu mcm Syurga kain sangat pun ... kedai kain kat sana pun lebih kurang mcm kedai kat Jitra saja ... serius .. cumanya kain depa yg sama standard dgn kain cotton murah kita kat sini, design dia lain dan cantik .. kualiti kain hampeh lebih kurang juga. Merujuk kepada perkara di atas serta komen-komen Puan-puan semua di dalam entry "Memang Terasa Nak Bakar Kain Kadang" bertarikh hari ini juga.

Saya juga mohon merujuk kepada gambar-gambar di dalam entry yang tersebut di atas yang mana telah membuat salah seorang pembaca memberi komen sampai dua (2) kali kerana agak kurang sabar hendak tahu.

Puan-Puan Yang Budiman,

Saya bukanlah tokey kedai kain tersebut. Saya juga bukan pemborong mahupun pengedar bertauliah kain-kain tersebut. Saya juga adalah pembeli yang lalu di kedai kain tersebut dan kemudiannya memilih dan kemudiannya mengeluarkan wang untuk membayar harga kain tersebut.

Jika Puan amati entry saya yang lepas sudah pasti puan akan perasan yang saya ada menyebut harga kain adalah untuk RM7 satu ela. Itu adalah klue yang pertama untuk Puan meneka di mana kain-kain itu dibeli. Kalaulah saya membeli di Etsy pastilah bukan RM7, selalunya USD7.

Saya tinggal di Jitra, satu pekan sederhana yang mall paling besar hanya ada empat (4) panggungwayang. Setiap satu adalah dikhususkan untuk satu wayang melayu satu wayang inggeris dan satu wayang tamil. Saya agak kesal kerana Sex and The City tidak ditayangkan di sini.

Ok berbalik pada cerita kain. Saya tinggal di Jitra. Rumah saya hanya lebih kurang 20 minit dari negara Jiran ...

Halimatun Saadiah is the name of my great grandmother. I think the name is very Malay and of course Putri Adriana wont fit someone like her who wears kain batik and baju Kedah .. hohoho

I was seriously considering using the real kain batik on her, but I was afraid if it wont turn out great and ruin the kain batik instead. I was eyeing one nice kain batik, but the small girl inside of me was still afraid my mother would get angry and scold me finding her kain batik torn apart ... hahahaha.

I think something must have hit Ayu ..... was it the drink I made during the reunion? .. It cant be the cooking, because I only cooked the rice and not all the other dishes ... She looked ok that day. She must have gone and watched Lagenda Budak Setan then.. I think ..... (hahahahahahahaha sure murka gila dia kalau tuduh dia pi tengok cerita nih...).

I was there when she first opened her shop at Prai and yes there were rows and rows of fabrics, thanks to her Sister Kak Dida who always make sure to get only the best. Its no surprise that almost all the fabrics they are selling are 100% American cotton and of course there are also some cotton linen (which I dearly love) and also some corduroy (which I am still waiting for her to upload for the SALE). Kak Dida la ni dok teriak (menangis) sambil pegang almari kain tu semua sebab sedih nak berpisah dengan kain-kain kesayangan dia. Harap beliau tabah dengan dugaan SALE ini.

Amni is an 8 year old girl who appreciates beautiful things. She is now in Year Two and has been a very good student. The only thing is that Amni is always second in class, and she has not been able to beat Wong his classmate, just yet, to be at the top of the class. I promise her that I would make her a bag if she is able to beat Wong in the next exam.

But her mom my cousin has requested me to make a couple of cushion cover for her and her daughter. Amni is into all these "hearts" or "love" things as she call it, and I hope she likes this one I made for her:-

Reunion And Frens And New Cushion Covers

I have been very busy actually these few days. There was a reunion the other day with my fellow primary school gang ... hahaha ya ya it sounds crazy, not many have a reunion with their old frens from primary school, at the most people would want to meet their secondary school frens or uni frens .. but not those from primary school ... but you know what, my frens and I had a really great fun and crazy time together that day! The only problem was that everybody talked at the same time and we didnt know who's talking to who !! We just hit back as if there was no 15, errr no no, 20 .. ehh no 25 .. errrr..... 27 years of gap.

I just have to tell you ladies about the reunion because when they came to my house, some had kidnapped my cushion covers !!!!!!!!!! all of them wanted the cushions to be the door gift ( mati sawan la aku ...) tsk.

Semua muka mengharap nakkan kusyen

tapi jurugambar selaku tuan rumah menunjukkan muka bengis dan garang kepada meraka

Ok so I m now like back to square one and have to refurbish with a new collection.

I know Kak Dee was asking why only cushion cover .... well I suppose its because I love using the bold plain fabrics and create and have fun designing it ! Im still excited about it and perhaps I would one day may be in one or two weeks time get bored and move on to making bags and yes quilting too ....

A few weeks back I made this and I notice the design looks almost the same as those of Mayas'.

I know its a bit plain and but I just love the fabric, its linen cotton with a bit more of the cotton side. Alhamdulilah the girls didnt notice how smooth and huggable this one is. Hahaha.

And, I also finished the rocket cushion cover last night and am quite satisfied with the outcome. Hah I discovered that the missing part from the last green cover was the "stars" ... the small small stars youre supposed to see when you look up in the sky .....

I hope Hakimi would love it

And just in case some of you are wondering hows my craft room after a few days

I' m not a disappointment to Kak Diah after all .....

Alas , we ll just wait another month

Ok Kak Dee fulfilled her wish to step into my house. And we spent a few hours in my sewing room. What an eyesore for her seeing my room ( and that was already duly vacuumed right after she called shes on the way hahaha). And so ... Kak Diah gave me a crash course on how to fold all the fabrics and place them in a neat row on the shelves. Actually I have to be frank, folding the clothes is not really my thing, I d prefer ironing them anytime instead of folding. But for the sake of my craft room, I thought why not ....

Langkah Pertama: Pakai Kain Batik Dan Cari Kadbod . Gunting mengikut saiz yang bersesuaian

Letak Kadbod di atas kain seperti di atas. Saiz kadbod adalah mengikut saiz yang kamu rasa sesuai untuk muat di atas rak kain kamu

Lipat dan lipat dan lipat lagi kasi kemas.

Seluk tangan ke dalam kain dan tarik kadbod keluar, untuk digunakan untuk kain seterusnya.

Boleh susun suda di atas rak dengan gaya kemasan menawan

Bila Sifu agak kurang yakin akan kemas seperti ini selalu. Amik gambar untuk pastikan nanti kemasan akan berkekalan.

Homework yang diberi oleh sifu untuk dihabiskan.

Anak murid yang baik memang akan habiskan kerja rumah. Tempayan itu juga adalah hasil cadangan Kak Dee ... cantik kan ....

Okehhh ... I m back after some busy days running here n there making ends meet. It so happened that after my meeting with Kak Dee and after Kak Dee posted my pic in her blog, my long lost friend Nisa suddenly contacted me again. She s one of Kak Dee's gang in the Cross Stitch camp (Kak Dee apparently has many camps .. hehe). Nisa or Yoon was one of my gang at the university, we had gone through a lot together and its been quite a few years since we last saw each other. She has been following my blog and although she had the instinct that Crafty Anique might be her Kak Ann, but since she felt that its quite impossible for her Kak Ann to be sewing, she just brushed off the thought .. until that day when she saw my pic in Kak Dee's blog .... hmmmmm

Anyways ... on another note, my good good friend Shaliza had requested me to make one cushion cover for her son Hakimi. I had made two before for her daughters and now the son also has asked for one too and this boy really knows what he wants ...a rocket picture with his name together with some wordings to it

Actually to be frank I m not really satisfied with the outcome .. I feel something is missing which I hope the boy wont notice ...... mati la kalau Hakimi cerewet ....

And oh ya ... you see the first photo in this entry, I found the fabric at a "morning market" in Jitra selling at RM4 a meter. The seller even discouraged me from buying it because he said "gambar tak elok" ... (the pictures not really appropriate according to him) but i think they are cute and so I bought the whole 7 meters lot ....

I can make bags, cushion covers and even aprons with this 100% middle weight cotton fabric

We Finally Met - Kak Diah and I

When I entered into this new world of crafting and sewing, I thought I would be alone .... (sob sob) but then Allah, always, has plans for us .. when HE shows you a path for you to take HE would always make sure there ll be somebody to walk along with you ... nothing is coincidence in this life .. we are all part of this big and large scale of plans .. every little things that we decide would open up many many other doors, and the thing is, not only our decision will open a new door for us, it will also lead up to many other doors and windows to be opened by others .. and when I opened my new door into the craft world, I saw Ayu and then Kak Diah ..... They are no stranger to me. Ayu met me for the first time when I was still wearing that dark blue pinafore and Kak Diah, when I was wearing a swim suit ....

Hahaha ... ya ya thats how we met. Well no, actually I think we first met during an aerobic session ! I followed another friend of mine to the class and she introduced me to Kak Diah .. in those tight elastic sexy aerobic suit .... (forgive me Kak Diah .. but you looked hot .. I mean you still are ) sweating all over. I tried a few sessions with the aerobic group .... but me with my two left feet .. i had no knack at all with dancing .. I failed miserably at it ...... I just gave up. But I somehow managed to still keep in touch with Kak Diah. Its all because of swimming. We love the water very much and from then on we always meet up at the swimming pool. She would always bring her son "Boy" with her and I got along very well with Boy. Boy was only ten at that time .....

We spent our times chatting and I learned a lot from Kak Diah how she manages to keep her marriage alive and full of romance and how she really takes good care of her two daughters and that athletic boy Boy !

After some time we just drifted apart .. i think not because of anything, its just that Kak Diah i think was spending more of her time in KL and I in Alor Star. But we did meet occasionally, and at one time I even went to her house in BK3 and the main reason, apart from paying her a visit ... was to play basketball with Boy ... hahaha....

Kak Diah was already showing me her quilts during those our time together but me being me, I just looked at them with blank expression ... I was busy with my gym, my roller blade (yeah I even went out roller blading with Boy) my swimming, ..... hmmm. But I did notice Kak Diah , that they (your quilts) were all lovely; even when I had no inclination towards them, I still have great eyes for beauty ... :-D

I found Kak Diah again when I stumbled her blog. To my surprise she is already a famous quilter ! Almost everybody I know in the quilt world know of Kak Diah.

Kak Diah indeed is an amazing lady. I know that some are so surprised to know that I can get along with her that well, athletically, especially with the age gap of about 15 years. She is now pestering me to go swimming again after seeing my bulgy hip and I think i better follow her suggestion. I have no qualms about swimming but please no aerobic anymore ... (sakit lutut) sometimes I feel older than her physically

Oh ya I went to her house last nite and managed to get some shot. She was in spaghetti strap so no photos of her (hahahahaha .. kidding (the spaghetti strap))

Jangan Harap Pada Kucing Kesayangan Bila Kecemasan

Have I ever told you, that before I started learning to sew and make all these crafty things, I was (and perhaps still am) an adrenaline junkie. Not that I had tried bungee jumping or anything like that, but you could say I am not the typical your girl next door who lipat kain sambil bersimpuh. So those who knew me before craftyanique find it amusing to learn that I can now know how to use a sewing machine and to some like Kak Diah its something hard to fathom ... (hehe betul kan Kak Diah)

And another thing about me is that I am a very clumsy lady too ... plus a bit of a careless side ... I bump into things when I walk and nobody, I assume, has broken my records of destroying things ... those who are close to me are always a bit wary when I hold their valuable items ....

Ahh ..ok enough about the history .. actually what I am trying to tell you is that .... well .. I was involved with an accident today ... with ... errrrrr .. my sewing machine. No I was not doing the easy stitch-minus-the-foot thing, in fact it happened when I was about to change the foot ... when I accidentally pushed the pedal ....

It wasnt that bad ............ the needle just went straight into my right thumb and came out the other side with the thread still attached to it and it broke (the needle NOT my thumb) into two .... I was a bit panic trying to lift the needle and when I managed to lift it then only I saw the needle and the thread dangling from my thumb with a few splash of blood ....

This is what happened when a perempuan kurang sejati used the sewing machine

I quickly cut the thread and pulled it out and then ran into the kitchen to get the paper towel trying to stop the blood from gushing out more! Alhamdulillah ... amazingly the blood stopped !!! and I did not feel any pain at all ... and as you could see I can even still type this entry ... but I am still cautious though, should the pain strike at any time.

Last weekend I thought that its about time I try making something else other than the cushion cover. I have more than enough of the covers. And so I flipped some pages from Poppy's book and finally decided I should try this purse, the Called-Off-The-Search Purse.

It looks very simple and should be easy

Very very easy .... peanuts ... kacang lah .... I cut everything ... I applique ... I sewed .... humming with the sound of the birds outside .... tra la la la la la la la ... happy to be working and sewing without having to think of anything ... (remember I left the brain at the door).

I managed to finish it and here I present to you my very own Called-The-Search-Off purse :-

gara-gara ajaran saya dalam entry yang lepas tentang tapak sulaiman (jangan bimbang saya juga sayangkan alam)

atau gara-gara masih tidak dapat menjahit easy stitch itu ..?

Saya tidak pasti berapa ramai yang telah cuba dan berapa ramai yang memancut-mancut darah mengalir demi mahu mencuba easy stitch tanpa tapak .

Ok. Hari ini sekali lagi puan-puan sekelian saya akan tunjukkan caranya langkah demi langkah.

Ehemm.... Sila ambil perhatian. Tumpu betul-betul jangan bising dalam kelas. Kalau yang sedang baca blog ni time pejabat ... abaikan semua tugas .. tolak tepi fail semua ... kalau boss panggil cakap :-

"Shooohh... ni si anique nak bagi tutorial lagi ..
bukan terrer pun dia tu .. tapi ada hati nak ajar orang ..
tapi tak pa boss saya tengok tutorial dia dulu".

Kalau nak beli cucur pisang pun sila beli sekarang, entry ni mungkin panjang ... nanti lapar.

ok sekarang apa yang perlu kamu buat ialah buang semua tapak-tapak tu semua sehingga telanjang

ya telanjang seperti ini

beginilah keadaan jarum tanpa tapak

Masukkan jarum dan benang dan bobbin seperti biasa.

Bergantung kepada jenis mesin , sekarang kita boleh turunkan dog foot yang disebut-sebut itu. Untuk mesin Bernette seperti saya suisnya terletak di belakang mesin .

Ini adalah keadaan biasa bila dog foot berada di atas

Kita hanya perlu tolak ke kanan untuk menurunkan dog foot

menjadikan ia terus turun takhta

Sekarang kita sudah boleh mula menjahit. Saya tidak pasti dengan mesin yang lain, tapi kita perlu melakukan sesuatu agar benang di atas akan dapat "menangkap" benang di bawah .... dengan Bernette saya hanya menukar kedudukan jarum ke paling tepi ... sebab benang bawah bila tanpa tapak dia akan berada di tepi sekali .

Lihat kedudukan jarum yang kini sudah berada di tepi mengikut kata skrin.
Kalau mesin tak ada skrin ubah kedudukan jarum agar dia ke tepi.

Ok sekarang dengan penuh hati dan berhati-hati mulalah menekan pedal untuk menjahit

Jangan panik bila mula menekan pedal

bayangkan macam bawa kereta

cuba seimbangkan kelajuan mesin dengan benang dan kain

untuk pertama kali cuba lukis dulu sesuatu di atas kain dan cuba ikut lukisan tersebut

Orang yang penuh kasih sayang akan menjahit menulis

"Love"

Cuba cari kesesuaian benang dan kain serta tekanan. Bermain-mainlah di situ hingga kamu dapat rasakan "feel"nya. Kalau kamu jenis rugged rock mcm saya ... jahitan herot petot pun akan masih nampak cool. Kalau kami jenis sopan detail dan kemas macam Maya, pun boleh juga. Hanya perlu pandai menggerakkan jarum dan benang mengikut kemahuan. Ada juga ketikannya saya tidak menurunkan dog foot untuk garisan lurus tapi rock(apa tu) ...tak apa kamu cuba saja !

Nanti kalau dah cuba blog kan lah boleh kita tengok

Easy Stitch : Tanpa Tapak Free Motion

Puan-puan sekelian .... sebenarnya kalau nak buat easy stitch .. tak perlu ada pun tapak free motion tu ..... Gambar kat atas ialah tapak free motion mesin jahit saya.

Rahsianya yang sebenar adalah pada :-

kaki anjing

Serius

... dog foot nama diberi dan ia ada pada setiap mesin jahit. Yang No:2 tu lah dog foot . No 1 tapak .. No:3 skru ... (habak pi lah yg No:1 dan 3 tu hehehe.. ).

Tapak free motion tu sebenarnya sekadar nak jaga tangan dan jari puan sahaja .. so ... kalau siapa yang tak ada tapak free motion tu .... puan boleh saja tak pakai tapak langsung ..... kosong ... biar jarum sahaja tanpa tapak ... tapi kaki anjing tu wajiblah diturunkan .... Puan-puan akan berasa sangat bebas bergerak bila kaki anjing telah diturunkan. Yang tinggal hanyalah kreativiti dan semangat puan-puan sahaja untuk mengarah jarum dan mencorakkan jahitan puan-puan.

Poppy Treffry menggunakan embroidery hoop bila menjahit easy stitch .. tapi saya agak tidak selesa begitu .. jadi terpulang pada selera masing-masing. Mungkin bila tak pakai tapak .. hoop dapat membantu ..

Cara untuk menurunkan kaki anjing terpulanglah kepada jenis mesin .... sila belek kembali mesin puan betul2 dan cari jalan untuk menurunkan kaki anjing tersebut ..... kalau perlu pakai skru ..pakai lah ... kalau perlu pakai suami pakailah .. (ya la suami habuan nak buka skru tu) ....

Tapi haruslah puan-puan semua berhati-hati bila dah tak ada tapak .. silap haribulan ... jari-jari puan-puan akan menjadi habuan mesin tersebut ....

Kalau puan-puan nak pakai juga tapak .... sila pakai "tapak sulaiman" ...ya tapak sulaiman bukan tapak sulaman ... hahahahaha

tapi rasanya tak ada mesin yang pakai tapak nih....

tapi jari dia ok saja rasanya
